Outside the Box Creations: So Much More than Art January Box Review

We received a sample in exchange for a honest an unbiased review.

Many people love getting monthly subscription boxes. Recently we had the opportunity to review Outside the Box Creations' January Box.

The subscription boxes from Outside the Box Creations are filled each month with a project and art supplies that parents can enjoy doing with their children. Each month the Box will contain a different theme and a new project.

The January themed box from Outside the Box Creations was The Art Element of Line. Inside the box we received a book, The Squiggle by Lena Schaeder. Also included was 5 Tombow Dual brush markers, 9x12 inch Strathmore 400 series marker pad, 3 B Kimberly drawing pencil, plastic 12 inch T square, 3 short pieces of yarn, 1 paint cup and 4 oz. bottle of liquid watercolor.

Leah eventually noted "Hey, the whole box is about lines this time. Look how many ways I used lines to draw cool things with. Like these tree boots, I mean r-o-o-ots" She now has a completely different idea about art and her drawings! Both mom and daughter were thrilled with the tools sent. Leah had never seen such dual ended markers and was very impressed that the markers didn't soak through the paper.

Outside the Box Creations' boxes were designed with children 5-11 years of age in mind. The projects encourage creativity and are enjoyed by advanced preschoolers and middle schoolers also. A picture book is included with each box but doesn't mean older children can not enjoy the projects. These picture books all convey sophisticated messages.

Outside the Box Creations does their absolute best to make sure all items in their boxes are safe for children. All projects in the box should still be done with adult supervision.

The cost of the monthly subscription box from Outside the Box Creations is $34.95 a month and $5.00 a month flat rate shipping anywhere in the Continental United States. You can save with a 3, 6 and 12 month subscriptions. To purchase a single box it's $37.00. The subscription boxes are shipped throughout the U.S. from Seattle WA around the 8th or 9th of each month.

Mother of three, Beth Harrild is the founder of this subscription box. She loves doing things with her children that help them learn and create memories with them doing it. When Beth's children began attending school , Beth quickly realized the arts education in schools were lacking. Every time schools cut budgets back the arts are the first to go. So, Beth armed with a degree in fine arts volunteered for 12 years as an art teacher.

Research is clear that art helps increase children's intelligence, attention, problem-solving skills and confidence. This is why Outside the Box was created.

Each box is filled with fun quality items that retail over $50.00. This is a great way to make up what might be lacking at your child's school for art. It's a wonderful way to spend time with your children and grandchildren. It's also a fabulous birthday or holiday gift to send a child you know.

  2. It is a sad fact of todays world that art is disappearing from our schools. It is now up to parents and other family members to try and teach art to the younger generation. These boxes sound like a great start!
