A Fun Summer Day at Darien Lake Theme Park

Christina here - My family and I were given tickets from the kind folks at Darien Lake Theme Park in exchange for a review.

Darien Lake's wide variety of entertainment has made it "destination fun" since 1964. Located 45 minutes from Niagara Falls between Buffalo and Rochester, N.Y., today the park boasts more than 50 rides, including six world-class roller coasters; dozens of family-friendly rides; the region's largest water park complete with wave pool; a 20,000-seat performing arts center, operated by Live Nation; and world-class in-park entertainment.

If you are ever in Western or upper New York, I would suggest a trip to the magical world of Darien Lake! My family and I had a blast, let me tell you about our awesome day.

When you first enter the park it is exciting and a little overwhelming. There is so much to take in and see within a few seconds of standing beyond the check out area. Our first concern was finding the Midway Lockers and storing some of the stuff we didn't want to drag around the park with us. There are three different sized lockers medium for $10 large for $15 and extra large for $20. We felt like the $15 large lockers were worth the price of not having to run out to our car whenever we needed something we chose to leave behind. There are also lockers available at the water park area. I thought that it was really cool that you don't have to worry about losing a locker key. When you check into the park it is digital and you choose a passcode . You just put that passcode into the key pad on the lockers.

I am very upset that I lost my phone with all my numbers and beautiful pictures at one of the stops on the way home. I have my memories, but my photo's are very important to me. I love looking back and reminiscing.

It was a hot summer day so the kids were all about visiting the water park first thing. There are huge water slides and intertubes you use to slide down them that is a fun time. My favorite would be the Lazy River, I could of stayed on that Lazy River the whole day. They also have a park for kids of all ages with their own smaller slides, pirate ships, floating treasure chests, a water house for the children to climb around in.

When it came time to think about food. We brought a cooler with sandwhiches and chips but decided to buy a pizza in the park. It was only around $20 and fed all of us. We allowed the kids later to choose one food item in the park for dessert. Everyone chose the fried dough. This was amazing fried dough. We only had to buy two to feed us all because their huge. They cost around $7 but are totally worth every dollar.

We had an awesome time riding all the rides. My kids number one favorite was the Superman. They went on this ride a few times. I also liked that on that day the lines for the rides were not long at all. They have a very cute section for children 2-5. My children also enjoyed rides such as the pirate ship, the scrambler and the predator.

We allowed the kids to play a few games but did not spend too much time there because there was so many other things to do.

We only spent the day at Darien Lake but if you choose to stay longer they have some great accommodations. There is a lodge on the lake hotel. This is situated close to the theme park. I'm told the rooms are clean and comfortable. If you prefer a more rustic experience the park offers a variety of other options. There are fully equipped cabins located near the lake but in walking distance of the theme park. Their cozy and comfortable as well. They come equipped with a tv, fridge stove microwave full bathroom and furnishings. If you prefer to sleep under the stars the park will let your family pitch a tent.

Overall we had a magical day and made lovely memories. We plan to visit the park again, hopefully to stay in one of those great cabins. We thank the good people at Darien Lake for allowing us to experience their awesome theme park.
