Missing Mondays: Amber Alert Issued For Missing Child In New York; OWEN HILDALGO-CALDERON

LAST SEEN - MAY 16, 2018

The Wayne County Sheriff's Department activated the New York AMBER ALERT after being lead to believe that he is in imminent danger of serious physical harm and or death.

Owen is a Hispanic male child who is approximately 1 year and 2 months old. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He is approximately 2 feet and weighs about 30 pounds. What Owen was last wearing is unknown. He is known to need Asthma Medication.

Owen was possibly last seen with Ebavardo Gutierres Reyes on or about May 16, 2018. The abduction occurred on Joy Road in Sodus New York. Ebavardo is an Hispanic male, 25 years old. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Sadly, this AMBER ALERT was issued after the body of his mother 18 year old Selena Hidalgo-Calderon was found killed in a plastic bag hidden in the woods. The alert had stated Owen was seen with Ebavardo just before her body was discovered on a farm in Wayne County, Town of Sodus where she and her boyfriend 25 year old Edward Reyes worked. Selena's body was found between two logs covered with soil and branches.

Edward Reyes was caught on a hunter's trail camera going in and out of the woods carrying a shovel. Edward Reyes was arrested that Wednesday night on charges of tampering with physical evidence. He has admitted to burying Selena but not killing her.

Edward Reyes was being held on 25,000 bail in the Wayne County Jail pending a court appearance May 29. Wayne County Sheriff Barry Virts said that he is working with authorities in Mexico, where Reyes is from, to learn more about him and if he has a criminal record. Edward is not the child's biological father. Hildalgo-Calderon had been in the U.S. since November 2016 according to the workers Center.

Relatives suggested at one point while both the mother and child had been missing that the pair, who had lived together may have run off because of their immigration status. Checks with the surrounding train and bus stations had produced nothing.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Wayne County Sheriff's Department at (866) NYS-AMBER or to call 911 to report a sighting.
