National Flag Day - Our Flag as a table cloth say what?

Today June 14th is National Flag Day. This started so many years ago. It is to honor our flag, it's 50 stars and 13 stripes that stand for so very much. Our flag, Old Glory, reflects the honor, integrity and truths our country was made of. Generations of military members, first responders, public servants and citizens have revered her, pledged allegiance to her. Children are taught of her magnitude, she is brought into battle, laid upon those fine men and women who have lost their lives serving our great country.

So tell me ...

Why then, do we find our precious flag on the ground, in the trash, wadded up in a basement or attic? It is a shame of such great magnitude. It shows of disrespect and of people not educated or not proud enough of what a great country, principles, men and women it stands for. My last straw was seeing her in an advertisement being used a table cloth. I was truly saddened by the sight.

How do you feel about this? I'd like to hear your thoughts!

  1. We have never done this with any of our flags. I always take our worn out ones down to our local VFW and retirer them there, properly.

  2. Ugh. That's a new low. I'm also not a big fan of splashing it on clothing and using it to sell absolutely everything. A little respect would go a long way.
