We had the opportunity to review a Sparkly Witch Lucky Kitty
from the Build-A-Bear Workshop.
Build-A-Bears have become
quite a popular toy. Our kids, nieces
and nephews all get excited over the Build-A-
Bear Workshops. My five year old niece was
recently on a trip, she called excitedly to tell
me she was going to be attending a Build-A-Bear
Workshop. It's an experience of great joy for
children.
The Build-A-Bear Workshop store was founded by
Maxine Clark, and first opened in October 1997.
One of the true innovators on the retail
industry, Maxine has the ability to spot emerging retail and
merchandising trends, her insight into the
desires of the American consumer have generated growth
for retail leaders, including department store, discount and
specialty stores. In 2005, Build-A-Bear was named Portfolio
company of the year. Maxine published her first book in 2006,
"The Bear Necessities of Business; Building a Company With
Heart". Until June 2013, Maxine was the chief executive bear.
There are more than 400 Build-A-Bear Workshop stores worldwide,
including company owned stores in Puerto Rico, Canada, the
United Kingdom, Ireland, and the United States. Their franchise
stores are in Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, Mexico and the Middle
East. The in-store interactive experience extends on line
with the award winning virtual world at buildabear.com.
The mission at Build-A-Bear Workshop is to bring the American
icon, the teddy bear to life. Teddy bears bring to mind warm thoughts
of childhood, friendship, trust, comfort and love. The Build-A-Bear
Workshop embodies these thoughts in how they run their
business everyday.
The mascot for Build-A-Bear is Bearemy, who was born August
21st 1998 in St Louis Missouri. Bearemy received his name from
a little girl in Madison, Illinois after a search was put out in all the
Build-A-Bear Workshop stores to find the beary best name for the
9 1/2 paws tall teddy bear. Bearemy became the hottest bear in the
country. He can be met greeting guests at new store openings
or in store events.
The Build-A-Bear Workshop stores provide a great experience.
Their highly visual and colorful stores that feature the teddy
bear theme. There are numerous displays of fully dressed
stuffed animals and Bearisms such as "A hug is worth a
thousand words" They are the only company that offers an
interactive make your own stuffed animal retail-entertainment
experience.
Build-A-Bear Workshop also contributes to many great causes,
They give their guests a voice to support causes that are important
to them. Stuffed With Hugs is a charitable program of Build-A-Bear
Workshop that helps kids in need around the world. Now in their 11th
year, they provide teddy bears to children's causes. More than 325,000
teddy bears have been donated. This is an example of the wonderful
causes they support.
When my granddaughter seen we had received the Build-A-Bear "Lucky Kitty",
she was so excited. It is has become her very new bestie. I agree
wholeheartedly with others that the children who receive these
stuffed animals really feel more sense of ownership over the stuffed
animals, it really makes it more special to them. I know even for me,
it did my heart good to see our little Leah's's eyes light up.
