We have had the opportunity to facilitate a
review for a Jumbo Checker Rug and
Eco paint sent to us by 50R00TS . Although we received samples, this is a honest and unbiased review.
Have you heard of 50roots? If not, you
may be missing out on some really great
products made right here in the USA.
50roots as launched in 2013, with the goal
of providing consumers a place to find
unique and innovative American Made
products with great stories. They have
a natural curiosity about the products
they purchased. They want to know
where the product came from, what is it
made of, and most importantly is the
product made responsibly.At the forefront
of purchasing decisions made at 50roots
is an awareness of the environmental and
social impact of a product. Like many
Americans they believe in supporting the
economy, they appreciate the designers
and businesses that put their heart into
every product.
One of the products sent to us from 50roots
is the Jumbo Checker Rug. This was uniquely
created by Channel Craft. The 28 by 28 inch
rug is constructed of synthetic and natural
fibers such as cotton, polyester/cotton and
possibly wool. This rug is machine washable.
The large vinyl playing pieces are 3" in
diameter. This creatively designed classic
game is ideal for all ages. The object of
Checkers is to eliminate all of the opposing
checkers, or create a play in which it makes
it impossible for the other player to make a
move. The playing pieces are embossed
with a crown on one side, when a player gets
a "king" simply turn the playing piece to
crown side up. The game can be played
and enjoyed on the floor, on a table, out
in the yard. What is great, is that its very
near impossible to misplace this jumbo set.
The game comes with a convenient zip lock
bag for storage.
50root shares the back story of Channel Craft,
creator of the Jumbo Checkers Rug. I find
reading the back stories interesting. President
and founder of Channel Craft is Dean Helfner.
He started out in 1983 as a one man operation
from the back of his step van. The crafting circuit
opened up new avenues for Mr. Helfner to start
a true manufacturing operation. He and a crew
set up permanent shop in Ellsworth, Pennsylvania,
and later moving to a larger manufacturing facility
south of Pittsburgh. In 1998, with an addition of a
new warehouse and shipping facility Channel Craft
currently occupies three buildings. They manufacture,
assemble, ship and receive, while continuing to
hand craft toys, games and puzzles right here in
the U.S.A.
We also received Eco Finger Paint from 50roots.
Eco paint was made in the U.S.A, created by
Eco-Kids. The very best thing about this paint is
it was made using all natural ingredients including,
flour, annatto seed, carrots, spinach, earth clay,
red grapeseed, purple sweet potatoes, gardenia,
red cabbage, and cornstarch. Its powder based,
tactile and exploratory encouraging children's
creative process. To use it simply gets mixed
with water. There are five colored 4 oz. packages.
Colors are green, blue, pink, yellow and orange.
The paint is quite concentrated so you'll get over
60 ounces, which to my kids is many hours of
finger painting fun. I have to like the peace of
mind that comes with this the most. No worries
of any accidental poisonings. The second thing
that I love is the smile I get every time one of
my babies create a new masterpiece to hang on the
wall.
Eco-Kids is a family run business that produces
all natural art supplies. It started with a molding dough
recipe. After incorporating natural ingredients into the
recipe the dough as transformed into Eco dough.
Eco dough is rich in color, soft in texture, with a
delicate aroma, like no other. In 2008, the family started
selling it at Farmer's Markets, and from there evolved
into Eco-Kids. This family business lives by their mantra-
Creative play the natural way.
Every package that is sent by 50root contains biodegradable
packing peanuts, recycled crinkle paper and recycled boxes.
