We had the opportunity to facilitate a
review for the outdoor family game
Rollors .
We were excited to receive the Rollors
game. Our teenagers had it set up within
minutes of it arriving and we immediately
set to reading the directions. Setting it up
was simple, and we figured out how to play
from the detailed instructions in no time.
Rollors is an outdoor game that is played
in the grass, dirt or sand. The game combines elements from the classic games Horseshoes, Bowling and Bocce.
The game includes:
2 Wooden Goals
3 Wooden Discs with Red designs
3 Wooden Discs with Blue designs
Blue Measurement Cord-easily connects to
each goal
Carrying bag with zipper
Instruction Book
Rollors is a game of skill and luck.
To play you will need 2-4 players.
The players will take turns rolling three of the over-sized wooden discs towards the
wooden goal 25 feet away. Whatever
team or player that has positioned
their wooden discs closest to the goal
is awarded the face up points on the disc.
If there is confusion about whose disc is
closest to the goal, pull out that handy blue measuring cord. The Instruction
book also goes into detail about counting
points throughout the game. The game is played until one player or team has reached
21 and wins by at least 2 points.
To play a single game can take between
10 and 20 minutes, unless your family
is like mine and has to go for the best scores out of ten games. We had a wonderful time playing as a family. After we all
played I got pictures of the kids playing.
At first their were three of them, so one
waited to play the winner. It was entertaining to watch them play and
change up the game a bit with their
own rules.
Rollors has won numerous awards
including:
Dad Does Approved in 2012
Nappa Award in 2013
Product of the year award from Family
Review Center in 2013
Toys Tips and Trust (TTT)
Men's Journal "Best Gear" in 2014
Air Force Officer Matt Butler, a Minnesota
Native is the inventor of Rollors. Like many
Air Force Personnel he would daydream
about home and spending time with his family playing games in the backyard. He visualized the Rollors game while on downtime between deployments overseas
in Iraq and Afghanistan, supporting
combat operations. When Matt returned he developed a prototype and it was well
received at BBQ's, parties and other outdoor
get togethers. Around the time of the recession Matt noticed that many local
Veterans were out of work. They had the
resident wood working skills so Matt
employed them to construct the wooden
discs and cone-shaped targets used in the
game. And that is the basic story behind the invention of Rollors. It was an ingenious idea all the way around, a fun family game
that helped give a lot of well deserving families a hand up.
Rollors is a super fun and easy game for people of all ages to play. I really like how the game is constructed out of wood. It will last a very long time. The carrying case is made out of a nylon material with a zipper closure and carrying handle. It is compact
so that the contents will stay contained and easily stored or carry it with you on your next trip to the beach or an outside party.
We are very happy to be adding this to our collection of outdoor games.
