BitsBox Subscription Box for Children Review

We received a sample in exchange for a honest an unbiased review.

The first time I was introduced to a computer, I was in about 6th or 7th grade. I remember the class being very excited as most of us had never played with a computer. Some of our first lessons were memorizing the keyboard.

Twenty-five years later, and the world is technology driven. You don't get computer skills for fun anymore, you get them to be able to function in society. I feel it's important for the future of our children that they start being educated as soon as possible. After all technology isn't going away, it will just keep advancing.

Coding is a popular thing these days. Coding is language, and learning to program is just like learning any other language. The earlier you start, the easier it is. Kids can use Bitsbox as soon as they can read and write.

Bitsbox is a fun monthly subscription box for children 6 - 12 years old. Your children can learn computer programming with the Bitsbox website. They send your child fun coding projects to use on real devices. 500,000 kids have built apps on Bitsbox website, and they have subscribers in over 50 different countries. This has been loved by both boys and girls everywhere.

We had the opportunity to try out Bitsbox. What a surprise! I'm not sure what I expected, but was wowed with this subscription box. The box comes with a mystery toy, that will be different every month, stickers, temporary tattoos, a booklet with instructions, 21 codes for apps, and some app trading cards.

When you receive your first monthly box from Bitsbox, it will teach you to set up your online account. The Bitsbox website is where all the action takes place. There will be many different codes you will take and enter them into the website to create all different kinds of apps. Some of these awesome apps are things like dot to dot, animation and even create art.

My child went through the materials and picked an app. Every box comes with a dozen of projects, ranging from simple to more advanced. After he typed the code from the book he put it into the Bitsbox website, and from there he was able to customize it and make it his own. Kids can use and share their apps on any mobile device.

Bitsbox uses simple commands to create cool apps that really work! Most people learn hard things by imitation and repetition. With Bitsbox kids learn to program by copying apps and making them their own.

To use Bitsbox, a computer with a Web browser is needed. (Google Chrome is a favorite) Bitsbox works inside a Web page. You will never need any complex tools to download and install. You will not have to worry about managing any files. It's all in the cloud. Though it is theoretically possible for kids to do Bitsbox on a tablet, it is recommended using a machine with a physical keyboard. Typing a set of {} on an iPad is an ordeal even for grown-ups.

Subscriptions to Bitsbox are $20 a month for the PDF version and $40 a month for the physical box, or less with multi month commitments.
